Mother Nature has destroyed your spa cover? If you need a new spa cover because your old foam cover was damaged by the elements, consider something different. The typical rigid foam filled hot tub cover covered with vinyl is doomed to end up heavy or broken, no matter how well you treat it.
No matter what we are trying with all vinyl with a rating of hours outdoors. Very high quality marine grade vinyl is rated for 1500 hours outdoors. That equates to about a hundred days of sunshine. I know what you're thinking, why nobody puts vinyl on something that is intended to be used outdoors? But that is not even the error more common than typical rigid foam filled spa cover.
What usually happens before the vinyl is that the foam collapses becomes so heavy that can not lift the spa cover yourself. No matter how it is wrapped and sealed the deck, the foam is filled with water. What happens is the little air spaces in the foam is supposed to help isolate the foam from your spa is filled with moisture. Here's a tip for what doomed the foam covering all, if you never put the cover in the spa, I would never get heavy. If you just take a brand new Spa cover out and put it on your picnic table instead of your spa, vinyl would collapse before Cover is heavy.
Why? Because the hot spa water is far below the bottom of the rigid foam spa cover. Some the hot thermal water turns to steam and rises. The vapor molecules are smaller than water. Water vapor makes its way into cracks and small spaces foam where it condenses back into liquid. If you live in an area that receives snow, the snow will fall in the saturated foam and freeze the water inside.
How? as well as the heat rises, cold sinks. When direct contact with the spray that freezes the moisture. The thermal water is not hot direct contact with the bottom of the spa cover so it's a losing battle trying to beat the cold. The vapor leaving the water hits the bottom of the deck spa now frozen, it condenses and falls back into the water below work as a radiator to cool the water a reality.

When the acrylic spa were sold in the states, which needs to be covered with something to keep debris and to help maintain hot water. Foam panels covered with vinyl was cheap and as everyone was selling the same as it was all they had to offer. Recall the definition of insanity is do the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
The second reason is worse in my opinion. Spa Dealers know that the coverage they are sending home with it shall be replaced again, because you'll end the same as that which is now replacing. They know that like clockwork, every few years are going to need have other coverage if you intend to use the spa on a regular basis.
What are your options? Thanks to the Internet now has the world at the ends finger. Search online for a different type of spa cover. Find a spa cover that is not covered with vinyl, which is rated by hours if the spa is outdoors. There Spa Covers available directly from the factory that do not use rigid foam that is only going to end up heavy to lift. If you plan to use the spa for the rest of his life like me, you owe it to yourself to get a better spa cover type.
